Melanin Being expresses fashion through our well known Fashion Label Maila Kouture. Maila Kouture is a brand that was established in 2009 by designer Maila Kalipi, the Head Designer at Melanin Being. She has managed to showcase numerous collections at various shows in Namibia and participated in the 2017 Windhoek Fashion Week with her collection titled BLOOM by MAILA KOUTURE. Clothing Manufacturing (Whole sale- minimum 5 garments)
We manufacture for brands that wish to create a collection for any occasion and of any style. We develop your collection from illustrations and can supply you with products upon request after the collection has been developed. We manufacture any garments that is a minimum of 5 units per order.
We manufacture all types of garments , from Trench coats to Suits, Gowns and even Jackets.

Clothing Modifications
Our head designer can transform your existing garments into a modified piece that is styled just the way you want it. If you wish to keep your most beloved fashion pieces and slightly change them or simply just want to transform what you have into something more fashion forward then consult us and we will get the Job done.

Clothing Repairs
We repair any clothing that is damaged, from our most common repair of jeans to gowns and even jackets. Today there is no need to throw away your most treasured pieces, you can simply repair them and have it brand new again. We make exceptions to any item with fabric that requires repairs such as curtains and table clothes.


Fashion Illustration
We create fashion illustrations from any specification in any size. We paint, sketch and digitally create illustrations of good taste and you have the option to frame your piece. This is most popular with our bridal party as brides have the option of framing a sketch of them in their wedding gown before the big day.

Styling
We style clients head to toe for any occasion. We offer styling which includes styling of clothing, accessories, hair-styling and Make up. Melanin Being offers a one stop shop on styling as we have a Fashion stylist, Hairstylist and Make up artist that are ready and keen to make you look fabulous.

According to the Oxford Dictionary Melanin is a dark brown or black pigment occurring in the hair, skin and iris of the eye in people and animals. It is responsible for tanning of the skin exposed to sunlight. This definition triggered the creation of Melanin Being which motivates people to change darkness and negative energy and moments in life into Light; and light into that which they love. The organization aims to combat prejudices formed by the understanding that Melanin refers to black people. This concept is oblivious to the fact that white people also have melanin cells in the Basal Layer of their skin, in their hair and eyes.
